The grub: As good as sports-bar cuisine gets, so it's no wonder why Duffy's has been expanding so rapidly. The wings are plenty meaty, the burgers are two-fisted affairs (try the rodeo burger with barbecue sauce and cheddar cheese for $8.75), and while the ribs won't compete with what you'll find at a real 'cue joint, they still have a nice taste of the grill to them. Best of all, Duffy's menu goes a little beyond the norm: There's a large selection of salads (we liked the Waldorf with chilled chicken for $10.99), a couple of pasta dishes and a first-rate, shareable apple crisp a la mode ($5.99) for dessert. One complaint, however: the onion rings could be less greasy.
The atmosphere: Boisterous in the best sense — the place is jumping even when there isn't a big game blaring on the TVs. Memorabilia is all over the place, from a Pete Rose shirt to football helmets galore. For these who prefer not to sit in one of the comfy booths, there's a large bar area. (And there's a small game room for the kids.)
The service: Outstanding. Despite all the hubbub, your food comes out hot and fresh. Our waiter apologized for a very slight delay with the dessert (without our even complaining), then comped it to show his appreciation. Servers are also quick to remind you about Duffy's great two-for-one happy hour drink specials
Number of TVs: 44
Number of beers available: 14 on draft, 22 in bottles
The plan for Super Bowl Sunday: All-you-can-eat (from the full menu) and all-you-can-drink (responsibly, that is) from kickoff to the last whistle for $54.95, plus tax and tip. Offer is available at all Duffy's locations. Reservations are accepted.
